My sister and cousin's birthdays are in February. Due to a sluggish economy, they both think a combined birthday celebration is a wise thing to do. This year's gathering was special because a family friend who's turning the big 7-0 in a few months had decided to have a joint birthday celebration with the girls. He offered to treat us for dinner. On his recommendation, we agreed to have a roof top dining at Vertigo, located on the 61st floor - Banyan Tree Hotel, Sathorn. A girl friend and I were fully aware of its pricey dishes having been there once before. When the other girls found out about it, they were reluctant to go. We tried to talk him out of it but to no avail.
Fast forward to the big day. A table for seven was booked on Sunday, February 24. We started off with some refreshments at Latitude Lounge and Bar. We then headed up to 61st floor at 6 in the evening. A waiter welcomed us and lead us to our table. Before settling in, we took a few moments to enjoy the breathtaking view of the city.

The Moon Bar located on the same floor opens at 5 pm. It was already packed when we arrived.
Appetizer was tofu with mushroom. |
Most restaurants I have been to serve sorbet after meal but Vertigo took us by surprise when lemon sorbet was served to us before the main course. Absolutely refreshing and a good way to start a meal.
